My suspicion is that it's RC but I haven't found an exact marking like that on all the RC Mausers online. Thank you! 98 Mauser Trigger Identification. This is not a Polish bolt, nor original to any Polish rifle, - probably early 1930's, pre-1935 (rearmament in Germany began in 1932, pre-Hitler, but it was modest compared to Hitler's program, which generally began in 1935 ...

They started with serial number 0001 for each year, in your case, 1940, and ended with 9999. The next batch that year, started with 0001a, and ended with 9999a. The next batch had a B suffix ...
