Dark infusion is best on a pyro IMO, unless you main fire pyromancies exclusively then a chaos infusion paired with fire clutch ring is best. There isn't much difference between dex and str builds when it comes to pyromancers. Int and faith are clearly better with dex owing to weapon buffs but pyro doesn't have that utility. Pyromancer also starts with low dex so it can work efficiently as a str build.

Pyromancy doesn’t require ANY level investment. But, in order to make it powerful you have to have it upgraded by one of the pyromancer NPCs. It fits well into basically any build, really. I recomend picking a class that fits the physical build you wanna do, and then getting the pyro flame from one of the Vendors.
