If this does not happen you have to adjust your cables. Another problem can be that the roller of the carb hits the cam to soon. Hi there, I have a 1992 Johnson v4 outboard that I have a couple questions on. The engine runs great once started but when I start it up it has trouble in low idle. I use the high idle lever to start it, then have to quickly switch into gear when I put the lever down or else it will shut down.
