The stock final ration of 16/40 is too low for the engine, with the most popular final ration typically being 15/41 or mathematically similar to place the engine in a better rev range. The factory setting is: From full CW, turn adjuster (s) CCW 1 turn to align punch marks. 3) The black knobs at the bottom of the forks are the compression damping adjusters. If you're looking vertically down on the top of the knob (s), turn CW to increase compression damping, turn CCW to decrease compression damping. For the street, I'd stay with the 530. The 530 is the same pitch as the 520 or 525, but is wider and spreads the force across a wider sprocket area. Now for racing, sure, go with a 520 or 525 as the chain is lighter in weight. I measured the 530 chain for my bike and it weighed around 4 Lbs.

Then put the cables on the new tube, hook up the cable at the throttlebodies, and set the adjustment as close as you can, then tighten the jam nut. Now go up to the adjuster under the throttle housing, and fine tune your throttle tube's rolling action. John, 2000 RC51 #000100. . Save Share.

The RC51 is no match to today's litre bikes. Power-wise it's more akin to today's 600's (although with more torque). After all the, RC51 is stuck in 2002 while the rest continued their relentless advancement. I'm guessing if Honda stuck with the RC51, it would be right up there with the 1098/1198 or RC8/RC8R.
