All other things being equal the 6" will have better potential accuracy due to the longer sight radius. But the difference is small and accuracy is going to be more dependent on the shooters abilities.The easiest way to convert your revolver would be to have a gunsmith machine the cylinder to take moonclips. Since the 357 is slightly larger in diameter, moonclips will allow for a rimless cartridge to be seated. Now the cost for this can be anywhere around $250-350.

We've shown the Ruger Security Six with .38 special ammo before, but we picked up some .357 Magnum and had to give it a few shots too!I see the Speed Six as something of interest to the hard core Ruger collector. As a concealed carry gun, the SP101 is better suited. I have a Security Six 357 and a Service SIx 38 Special. The 357 is just an exceptional firearm (with its action job). The 38 Special was bought in like new condition and will never see enough rounds to wear it down.Like a lot of .357 Magnums in this era, the original Security could handle them mostly fine, but it wore out considerably faster when it consumed a diet of nothing but .357 Magnums. Although your Security Six is a few years old it's a pretty strong well made gun that some (myself included) wish Ruger still made. To me it's the perfect size for packing. I have a 4" 66-1 and a 4" Security Six and they both use the same holster, so I would guess if you find a k-frame holster with the same barrel length it should suffice.
