I have a ticking sound in my Duramax that is getting louder and louder. It is reminiscent of a bad lifter and gets louder under load. I have a knocking noise upon deceleration on my 2017 duramax Silverado.. It happens between 1600-1100 rpm. As I decelerate between this range, it will start to knock at around 1600 then go away at around 1500 then start again around 1400 and stop at around 1200 and a third time at 1100. The ticking sound could be a number of things that have already been described, but the combination of ticking/chirping could be as simple as your belt and/or idler arm. I see you are in ND. If your belt is old coupled with the cold temps, that could also describe your problem. It's a simple idea I know.

A failure of the hpfp sends tiny little metal bits into the fuel injectors damaging them. I use Rotella T in my LMM & Mobil Delvac Super in the LML. The tick is louder/more noticeable in the LML with Mobil Delvac Super.
