FLHonda. My 2002 Odyssey is only 2 1/2 weeks old and the dashboard flashing condition has happened about 6 times. There is no one action that causes this random problem to occur, but it did occur once when the brakes were used and twice when the gas peddle was depressed. The other 4 times were just random in nature.

The flashing D light means an intermitent failure in the transmission. When this happens the light will flash until the engine is shut off. If it was intermitent the flashing doesn't come back the failure was intermitent. However this shouldn't lock the gearshift out of the forward gears. That is probably a failure in the shift mechanism.

The shifting transitions also seems to be just a little rough. I suspect (hope) that I may just need to flush out the old, stale transmission fluid (I thankfully have a free coupon to get a flush at a local transmission repair shop).
