I always shut the Vulcan down in neutral due to the key being down on the clutch side. Seen to many guys use the kill switch to shut down and forget to turn the key to off and deplete the battery. The Sporty ignition is on the right side so now I have a way to shut down in gear and fear the lunge. 08 Classic FI 1500. 06 Sporty 1200.2. Probe starter side of heavy cables connected to solenoid. Now for the backfiring problems on the 2400 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic (VN1500-E7) motorcycle. I replaced the exhaust gaskets with the Kawasaki and Harley Davidison exhausts gasket and this made no difference. I took off the pipe on the rear cyclinder to muffler and inspected it with finding no problems (cracks, etc.).

Check the battery voltage right after taking the charger off. Let the bike sit a couple hours. Check the battery voltage again. Check the battery voltage with the bike idling. My freind has a 2007 Vulcan 1600 classic and When it gets hot It loses its Hydro clutch and the bike stalls. If you pump up the clutch you can get it to work but then It goes away again after not using it. I blead the clutch and removed a good amount of air from the line ...Pull the cold start knob out, and twist it to hold it in position. Give a very small amount of throttle, but dont twist back and fore when trying to start. Once started, leave the "choke" out for a couple minutes. Key on, probe with red meter lead the yellow/red pin at the connector and note voltage. 3. Now probe with red meter lead the black/red wire that is on the yellow/red side of the connector and push start button, note voltage. Post back with two readings.
Jun 22, 2017 · Starting Problem. My Kawasaki 900 Vulcan won't start. The battery is only 1 year old and gives a reading of 12.89 volts across the terminals. I have charged it repeatedly. With the switch off, there is only 0.02 mA current across the terminals which I assume is due to the running of the clock and other internal electrical settings. It is better to troubleshoot a problem like this rather than just pulling things apart for fear of introducing another problem, and then the real tail chasing begins. ... We changed the starter, gear torque and one way last year, my celenoid was shorting last year while riding and screed everything up.

Then if it starts check again. Get both readings and compare them to the battery voltage and the manual for recharge voltage. If it's off then get it replaced.
