People who say that sirens are weak in UVHM really do not know what they are talking about, or do not have a clue what they are doing. I have multiple Maya saves, and alternate frequently between builds. I use a Scorn build most, but go SS for speed runs. SS downsides are pretty badly overblown, most likely because people frequently pair it with a Legendary Binder. The extra Suspension boost makes it more painful when the orb gets weird. I prefer to use it with L Siren or L Cat. It made it much easier. Gaige is better for solo as she just sends her robot to search and destroy, Maya is one of the best for multiplayer as she can revive people and cause extra damage for everyone shooting the target she lifts. Gaige is easy mode compared to maya.
Maya was my favorite character in Borderlands 2. I had a build that pretty much one-shot most enemies and I loved it.. So when Borderlands 3 came out I knew exactly which character to play first. It was the Siren of course. I started the campaign with Amara and regretted it before I even get to level 10.

grab cloudkill skill from the right skill tree. it's basically broken powerful for the first and part of second playthrough. otherwise I like the left skill tree for all the boosts to her skill. I use this build on my 72 maya. Left tree 5 ward, 5 accelerate 5 suspension, 4 fleet (for breakneck banshee build), 1 converge, 5 quicken 5 subsequence ...5/5 – 20% Cooler. 1/1 – Sharing is Caring. This leveling build for Gaige takes you to level 31 and uses only the BFF tree. You’ll end up with an unkillable Deathtrap that has a copy of your shield (lots of options below) and has a 30% lower cooldown, and only goes away once everything is dead (in theory, at least).For DPS Maya, I like this build. Pick up Sweet Release first, go up the Cataclysm tree, then finish with Motion. You'll do massive damage and, at level 42+, Ruin+Converge=bringing the pain. For a Thoughtlock build, I'd use this. Breakneck Banshee is a fun class mod with the rough rider shield. Blurred Trickster with +6 chain reaction and +5 kinetic reflection is pretty fun.
