From what I recall the factory slides aren't worth milling as the optic cut is minimal, as the extractor pocket is deep and there just isn't much material to mill. After a adaptor plate for the optic I would assume that the optic would not be flush with the slide. I have a springer precision trigger in the 4.5 frame and since it was fitted to my 4.5 slide, it is not as good of a trigger with a different slide. That would be my only caution.
