After lubing the garbage provided deadbolt, spending 45 minutes adjusting and readjusting and changing (have to fully assemble then disassemble each time, must have done it 20x) I finally had enough. Since the old Kwikset deadbolt worked perfectly, I went up to Home Depot and got kwikset (non smart) lock set specifically for the deadbolt.
