I have owned several diesel's in the past and I am wanting to get another one. I have had a couple 7.3's and a 08 6.4, the 6.4 gave me problems. I have also had a Cummins 6.7 and a Duramaxx that I liked.

Not going high HP...just reliable. I personally would just get a slightly older truck and throw some money in it. There is a Banks Brake installed on it (have no clue what other mods are on it yet, dealership didn't know). My question is, there is a Banks on/off switch on the dash along with these gauges.

Usually when raw oil is coming out the exhaust it means oil is not being burned in the combustion chamber and lead to oil leaking AFTER the combustion chamber i.e. turbo problems. Now if you are low on oil and its blue smoke then 99% its the injector o rings.

From what I have read, most people use the 1999 info for the 2001. The 5 is the cold rating and the 40 is the hot rating so its ok to use in the summer. I was running the T5 10-30 in my 6.0 up until i traded it in. They recommended 10-30 year round for that motor unless you were doing lots of heavy towing. So i would go right ahead and use the T6. It helped a lot in the winter cold starts up here in MN.

First thing to do is get a monitor on it, that's why everybody is going to recommend. That way you can see how your oil cooler is holding up etc. once you know how everything is doing then you'll know where to start. Also look in the 6.0 section at the stickies. IIRC, the oil specs are in the Diesel Supplement and/or owner's manual.
