Just wants a manual start for you to see important messages. It will also not work if the hood is up. Check to see if the hood sensor plunger or whatever is not cracked or bent.

I'm now up to 53k on my 2017 Pacifica, no problems with my van up until about 30k when I first encountered an issue where my car refused to shirt out of park, just kept getting "service shifter" message. After letting it sit 5 min and trying again the message was gone and I chalked it up to a fluke.
