4kids is the reason why it took me until just two years ago to give One Piece another chance. A lot of younger anime fans don't realize how badly they messed up One Piece when it first came to the west. For the longest, it was the lowest of the big 3 in the United States because there was no legal way of watching it.

Though some of the changes were subtle, like Luffy's voice, they still felt much fresher then the same 8 voice actors I hear in every anime. The most notable improvements were Sanji and Zoro (Zolo).Best bet would be to try and track down some of the dvd releases. Everybody's saying it's impossible to find, but just look on amazon. They have 4kids' One Piece on DVD, even though it's only 3 episodes each. It looks like they have all the way up to episode 52, which (in the 4kids dub) is during Chopper's arc.
