Stopped at drive thru and cut off truck to hear (diesel ) when restarted motor and put into drive , showed transmission in 4th gear. cut engine off , waited a few minutes and restarted went back to drive all back to normal but engine light remains on. Easy to fix, just take the top of the trans off from inside the cab and check it out, easy to see if it's trying to go into two gears at the same time. Big screwdriver will pry it right. In order to fully release the tension keeping it in gear or get the gears to mesh going in, you want to be moving 1-3 mph in either direction when ever you shift in or out. Always try to shift out of 4x4 low on before getting on a hard surface, especially turning.while you have it down go ahead and check the tower seals. the solonoid pack bolts to the valve body. just unbolt it and bolt in the new one, the new one may not come with the same color connector, will be white or grey, but no worries here. bolt it all back up, clear your codes and drive. the 4 is the limp mode.The transmission did not start out in 1st felt and remained stuck in what felt like 3rd or 4th. I drove home slowly about 2 miles and turned it off. Started up no traction control light but check engine is still on. Shift to drive and now it starts in 1st gear as it should.
