Because DMC3 vanilla on Normal was pretty fucking hard. Definitely harder than DMC1 as I remember. However, DMC3 also lets you replay stages to grind for orbs to buy upgrades and items, so you can eventually brute for yourself through difficult fights in ways that DMC1 doesn't allow for.
