Dealer could be trying to avoid a warranty repair on the original work. You should have noticed a leak or a burnt oil smell at some time. The VCM engine has a VTEC solenoid valve assembly on the drivers side end of the rear cylinder head. The gasket and filter are easy to replace and that is a common source of oil leakage with this engine.
