Knight wolverine 209 conversion kit.
Hi this is my first post, I am retirement age and don't type or spell well, but I bought a Knight 45 cal original disc that takes the orange discs,and want to convert it to shoot bare primer and Blackhorn 209 powder. I have tried to call ED at Knight many times and get no one to talk to. They sell some conversion kits on their sight.

I would spend the extra money and convert. The 209 gives you a hotter ignition, less chance for a miss fire. I have converted my Wolverine from cap to 209. I would not look back. The $80 is high as mentioned above check around you should be able to get it around $40 to $50 for the conversion kit.The coned 209 hammer will work, but it will definitely flare the nipple out. Some folks have taken a Dremel and filed down the cone flat. The Knight redhot nipple is a great nipple also. I have used both setups in my knight plungers, by far prefer the #11 ignition. It is a super setup. I don't even own a 209 setup anymore, all mine wear #11's.

Interested in buying a new Knight Wolverine. Always sort of regretted not buying one years ago. Knight offers two models. One 209 and one #11/Musket cap. Knight seems to offer a conversion kit for #11 to 209 but not the other way around. Are the hammers that different between the two types of ignition?

It's not the fact that the plug takes bare primers, it's because the plug has a convex end, and the realyable ones are concave. This combination of beauty and accuracy is only available with Knight. It was an inline with a number 11 percussion cap ignition originally, and I bought the conversion kit for it so I could shoot 209 primers. The 209 version is no doubt hotter and really encloses the primer/nipple to ensure that no moisture gets to it. However, it takes longer to prepare the primers and...reloading the 209 in a hurry is a giant pain.
