But you should be able to interchange the 9mm and .40S&W. I've heard that .45ACP's have bigger frames and slides.Most of the mass on a XDM is in the slide. The overall trigger pull length is shorter than the elite and range from 1 lb 14 oz to 2# 14 oz.
